Annual Report 2005-2006
May June July 2005

• The school Website was created.


August, September, October 2005


• Fixed tube lights in some classrooms of the Middle School.

• Provided two water purifiers one each in the Middle School and the Senior School.

• A photocopier was provided for the use of students and teachers.

• Conducted song, dance and painting competitions in the Nursery, Junior ,Middle and Senior School.

• Organised a dance recital by alumna Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar.

• Donated a Photocopier.

• Added some old books in good condition to the school library. They were donated by Shrimati Madhavi Sampson, an old student.


November, December, January 2005-2006


• The repair of the Gymnasium was carried out from the proceeds of the function.

• An inter-house singing competition was organised and certificates distributed to the winners.

• Alumna Pratibha Jolly, Principal Miranda House and secretary ICPE, arranged for the registration fee for two teachers and six students from the school to attend the international conference.


February, March, April 2006


• Repair of Gymnasium continued, Painting of doors and windows, ceiling, and iron girders.

• New Lights and tube lights were put up and all fans were repaired.

• Vanmahotsava was celebrated with Justice Gita Mittal as the chief guest. A large number of palm trees were planted in the front lawn by the students and teachers at Lady Irwin School.

• A workshop was conducted for the teachers at the Junior School by Sharmila Abraham.

• Presented a water pipe to water the garden in the school.


Annual Report April to March 2006-2007

April, May, June 2006

• Gifted a Fax Machine to be used by the school Staff and the students.

• Arranged special classes for class 10 and class 12 students in Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Accounts and Business Studies.
• The Annual maintenance contract for the Xerox machine was renewed.
• The Annual Maintenance Contract for the water purifiers was renewed.

July, August, September 2006

• Organised an Inter House Music Competition on August 22 in the Middle School.
• Certificates were awarded to the children who participated and were declared the best. A similar competition was organized in the Junior School.
• ‘Women in Technology’ A workshop was organized for class 6 students in the school gymnasium by IBM Team consisting of Seema Joshi, Pallavi Singh, Samta Narula Bhola,Anubha Garg, Anju Hooda, Gaurika Gupta, Avantika Kaur, Neha Nagpal and Anjali Sharma. The children of class six got individual attention as the team of instructors was large.

October, November and December 2006

• The Lady Irwin School Alumni Association arranged an inter-house News Reading and Value Education Competition. Each class had to present the Assembly on different days. 8B and 8E were the winners and were awarded certificates.
January, February and March 2007

• The Lady Irwin School Alumni Association provided an Electronic Balance and Chemical Balances, Stands and other equipment and chemicals for the Chemistry Laboratory in the Senior School. The head of the Chemistry Department and children showed gratitude.

• A Water Bath was also bought for the use of the students in the Biology Laboratory of the Senior School.

• The Association bought 50 dual desks from Tihar Jail. This furniture is made by the prisoner of the Jail. Class 7F and 7E Middle School are now looking better as there is now a feeling of more space in the classrooms.

• A Voltas Water Cooler was bought for the use of students and teachers of the Junior School.

April, May, June 2007


• The Annual maintenance contract for the Xerox machine was renewed.

July, August, September 2007

• Prizes were awarded for Interhouse kho- kho Matches for classes 6,7and 8 under the Get Active Program.


October, November, and December 2007


• We awarded cash prizes to 300 students in the following categories:

Academic Excellence, Sports, Drama, Music, Art

A function was held on the school grounds. Children were also given their prize receiving photographs.

Tea was arranged for the Teachers to felicitate them on the performance of the students.

The Ex students were awarded prizes on the basis of the Board results.


January, February and March 2008


• 10 students from the Junior School, 9 children from the Middle school and 10 children from the Senior School received need based onetime scholarship. Each student got Rs.1200/-per Annum.

• A Bulletin Board Competition for class 7 was held and prizes were given.

• Interhouse Get Active Theatre Competition was held. Prizes were awarded.

• A Rhythm Box was provided to the Music Department of the Lady Irwin School.

April, May, June 2008


• Interhouse English Recitation Contest held in school.

• Interhouse Get Active T-shirt contest.

• Maintenance of the website was continued.


July, August, September 2008


• Organised an Inter House Hindi Recitation Competition. Packets of sweets were given to the children who participated and were declared the best.

• Forty-Four Dual desks from Tihar Jail were provided for three classrooms in the Senior School.

• All the Black Boards in the Junior, Middle and Senior school were painted.


October, November and December 2008

• Thirteen Durries were given for the use of children to the Middle School students.

• Aparna Caur draws attention to all things wrong with Delhi’s environment, an eight-year-old mural about ecology –painted by her on the outside wall of her alma mater Lady Irwin School is set to don a new look. The Mural faces Canning Road. Caur’s first work was to clean the pan spit and paint over the Graffiti.


January, February, and March 2009

• Puja Gupta 2004 was crowned Femina Miss India Universe. In June 2007 she represented India for Miss Universe pageant in Mexico. She interacted with the present Lady Irwin School girls.

• Ms. Anupa Lal presented a story telling session for class six girls.

• Ms. Anupa Lal interacted with the language teachers.

• Deya Roy came to school as a resource person and presented a detailed introduction of the schemes and delivered an informative lecture on various topics of Science and Technology under the Delhi Science Promotion scheme.

• Eleven children from the Middle school and four children from the Senior School received need based onetime scholarship. Each student got Rs.2000/-per Annum.

• Forty baby chairs, thirteen durries and four bulletin boards were provided in the Junior School.

• Eighteen Black Boards green coloured were provided for the Middle School.

• A CD player was provided to the Music Department of the Lady Irwin School.

 

Annual Report of LISAA for 2009-2010

• Bulletin Board Competition.

• The website maintenance is done by Ms. Shobha Madan. Mr. Saurabh Bajpai of IIT Kanpur assists LISAA in this work.

• 1975 batch of LIS got 40 baby chairs made to order.

• Bulletin Boards were presented again by the 1975 batch.

• 8 Dr. P.C. Kashyap Merit cum Means Scholarships were instituted by the 1975 batch. These were handed over to the students on the 18th September 2009 function.

• Sharmila Ghosh of the 1975 batch offered assistance for the audit. Ghosh Khanna &Co. is our new auditors.

• The AMC for the photocopying machine, the Fax machine and the water purifiers is now being provided by Ashwini who uses the photocopier for school and children of Lady Irwin School. Money collected for photo copying provides the annual maintenance

• On 13th August 2009 the class 8 students were introduced to Yoga in the Middle School Quadrangle.

• Four sections of class 7 were provided with dual desks which were purchased from the wood workshop of Tihar Jail. Now all sections of class 7 have new furniture.

• A Poster Competition organized for the 18th September 2009 dance performance by Saswati Sen. Children made posters and these were used in school and the Kamani Auditorium. Children were awarded prizes.

• The Dance performance was organized at Kamani Auditorium. Ten children sang the Invocation song with music teacher Ms. Anisha Ray on the Harmonium and Mr. D.C. Suman on the Tabla. 20 Children participated in the dance with Ms. Saswati Sen. The chief guests were Shri Debu Choudhary and Pandit Birju Maharaj.

• The School Magazine Uditi was released by Saswati Sen. This is an achievement as the magazine has been revived after several years. It has been brought out with funds raised from the dance performance by Saswati Sen and students of Lady Irwin School.

• Cards printed with children’s paintings are available for sale. Each packet is for Rs. 100/-with 10 cards and envelopes of size 5’’ by7’’.1500 cards have already been sold.

• The 3rd Annual Prize Distribution was held on 14th November 2010 in the Gymnasium which was pioneered by Ms. Rita Narang. The 1979 batch sponsored this year’s prize distribution.

• The Annual Contributory Lunch was on the third Sunday of December 20, 2009. Few old students attended the function.

• A Career Guidance Counseling was arranged by Deepakshi by an NGO Pratham for class 12 students.

• 40 chairs were provided to the Senior School class 10 B.

• Website space was provided.

• 20 baby chairs were provided to the Junior School.

• Scholarships were provided to 28 girls in the school.

• Dr. P.C. Kashyap Scholarships were given to seven girls again to class 12.

• Dr. P. C. Kashyap Scholarships were awarded to nine girls of class 11

• Library books issued to class seven and eight girls after adding a few new books to the middle section.

• 60 dual desks were provided to the Middle School class 6.

• School Magazine was printed and distributed to children of class 12 and 9.

• Annual Contributory Lunch was attended by 26 old students

• 20 dual desks were provided to the Junior School.

• Space for the website was provided for.

• Scholarships were provided to 29 girls in the school.

• Dr. P.C. Kashyap Scholarships were given to six girls again to class 12.

• Dr. P. C. Kashyap Scholarships were awarded to nine girls of class 11

• Dr.P.C. Kashyap Scholarships were awarded to ex students.

• Library books issued to class six, seven and eight girls after adding a few new books for the middle section.

• Annual contributory lunch was organised and was attended by 25 old students. Audit Report was tabled.

• The racks donated by Shri Anil Madan were assembled and placed in the library to stack books.

• Participated in Ms. Sengupta’s birthday celebrations and provided snacks and tea for all the guests and children who attended the function.

• A few books were added to the library on Ms. Sengupta’s birth centenary {around 57 books}

• Brochure printed with articles by former students.

• Prizes were awarded to present students for art and creative writing competition.

• Program organised at Kamani auditorium a dance recital by Ms. Deya Roy and her group.

• Brochure published with articles by former students. It became a Dagshai special.

• Prizes were awarded to present students for art and creative writing competition.

• Annual Lunch was organised as Guru Samman Program. It had maximum participation. Retired Teachers were honoured.

• Annual lunch organised in school as ‘Guru Samman. Ex- teachers look forward to this annual event.

• Prizes were sent to school to be awarded to present students for art and creative writing competitions.

• Website space paid for.

• 25th November 2017 Dance Program organised at C,D, Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre of Odissi dance recital by Ms. Maneesha Halder, our school topper of 2008, in C,D, Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre.

• Prizes and certificates were awarded to present students for art and creative writing competitions.

• Prizes were provided for academics to student from class 1 to class12.

• Annual Lunch was organised as Guru Samman Program as usual in the middle school quadrangle.


Annual Report of LISAA for 2018-2019

• Annual Lunch was organised as Guru Samman Program.

• Shri D.D.Mulherkar offered to take up a Physics work shop on experimental techniques in Physics, the workshops could not materialize. The copies of the booklet written by him were provided by Anita Bembey to Ms.Jyoti the Physics teacher incharge.

Annual Report of LISAA for 2019-2020

• 250 plastic chairs for use in the Gymnasium for Meetings were provided to the school. The chairs were purchased from Kushal Furniture, Panchkuian Road, New Delhi out of LISAA funds and were requested by the acting Principal Shrimati Rama Kirpal.

• In the continuing effort of the alumni to engage with their alma mater, several old students and teachers planned to organize a workshop on Experimental Techniques in Physics for students of class 9,10 and11.

• A mathematics workshop for teachers was also planned. Due to the tight schedule of the students and teachers, however, the workshops could not materialize.

• Like in previous years, the LISAA offered to the school to organize an art competition ‘to commemorate Ms. Sengupta’s birthday’. The prize distribution for the students in academics, art, music, and sports was planned with a lot of effort. Unfortunately, no decision was taken by the school authorities and this annual event was dropped in 2019 September.

• Preparations for the ‘Guru Samman’ LISAA lunch were made to organize the annual event on the third Sunday of December. The lunch was, however, deferred. The school Authorities take a long time to grant permission.

 

Annual Report of LISAA for 2020-2021

• 110 dual desks from Mandoli jail were ordered and delivered at School for class 9 nine in four colours of four houses red, yellow, green, and dark blue. Later when we have more money, we will provide light blue and purple chairs.

• Preparations for the ‘Guru Samman’ LISAA lunch were made to organize the annual event on the third Sunday of December.


Annual Report of LISAA for 2021-2022

• Website maintenance and space paid for.

• The executive had an online meeting condoling the death of our Physics teacher Mr. D.D Mulherkar who passed away on 6th January 2021.

• All efforts to organise the annual lunch in 2022 were unsuccessful because the school management kept LISAA waiting for permission to organise the lunch for almost two months. The school management sort of made permission conditional by suggesting that all funds mobilized by LISAAA should be deposited in some Lady Irwin School Account. The executive committee considered the suggestion and did not accede to the request because it might have been against cooperative society rules.
