Maneesha Halder of Class XII (Science) is one of the Best All Rounders of Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School. Her achievements in various fields are summarized as below:

Maneesha was the Topper of Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School in CBSE EXAM 2008 of CLASS X with 92.8 % marks She scored Full Marks (100%) in Mathematics and Record Highest Marks (95%) in Bengali in the Delhi Secondary Exam 2008.

Over the last fifteen years Maneesha has been establishing herself as a beautiful exponent of Odissi Dance. Her introduction to Odissi took place under the guidance of Odissi Queen Sushree Sutapa Talukdar at Kolkata, who trained her in the fundamentals of Indian classical dance. Later she came under the tutelage of the world renowned Odissi Dancer Padmashree Madhavi Mudgal at Delhi.

She has completed Praveshika and Madhyama with Vishesh Yogyata (Distinction) in Odissi Dance from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay Mandal, Mumbai. Presently she is a Visharad student in Odissi Dance of Gandharva Mahavidyalay, New Delhi.

1. Performed at the National Cultural Festival “Unity in Diversity” in Hyderabad organized by Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in collaboration with Shilparamam Arts, Crafts and Cultural society, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, July 2008.

2. Dance Performance “Piya Tuse Naina Lage” at the Durga Puja Mahashthami Celebration 2007 organized by Probashi, Dilshad Colony, Delhi.

3. Performed Dance Drama “Mahishasur Mardini” during Durga Puja Celebration 2006 at Kashmere Gate organized by Bengali Club, Delhi.

4. Performed in the Group Odissi Dance Recital by Padmashree Madhavi Mudgal at Kamani Auditorium organized by Lady Irwin School Alumni Association, April 2006.

5. Dance Performance “Jia Jwale” at Dewali Mela Celebration 2005 organized by Shriram Institute for Industrial Research, Delhi.

6. Performed in the Group Dance Recital by Sushree Sutapa Talukdar at Rabindra Sadan organized by Gurukul, Kolkata, May 2003.

7. Invited Odissi Dance Performance at the District Inter School Meet 2003, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

1. Maneesha has been receiving a coveted eight year advanced training in Odissi Dance with the National Scholarship under CTSS Scheme, 2005 awarded by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

2. Maneesha was conferred in 2008 a scholarship by Gandharva Mahavidyalay, New Delhi for her outstanding performance in Odissi Dance.

Ms. Abhilasha Mehra, X A of Lady Irwin School is a Lawn Tennis player. Her achievements are as follows:

• Selected for National School Games 2007-08.

• Semifinalists in 12th Delhi State Tennis Tournament 2007.

• Gold Medalist in Delhi State Talent Search Meet 2007.

• Semifinalist in All India Super Series Tennis Tournament 2007 at Saharanpur (U.P.)

• Bronze Medalist at Delhi State Inter-Zonal Tennis Tournament 2007.

• Gold Medalist at 53rd National School Games Lawn Tennis Championship 2007-08 organised by Directorate of Sports & Youth Services, Maharastra State Government at Mumbai from December 21 to December 25, 2007.

• Won Gold Medal In Inter Zonal Tennis Tournament 2008-2009 organised by the sports branch of Directorate of Education, New Delhi, on November 19, 2008

• Selected for National School Games, Girls under 19 in November 2008.

• Semifinalist in All India Talent Series Tennis Tournament Girls under 18 at Delhi from February 3 to February 8, 2008.

• Semifinalist (Double) in All India Championship Series at Lucknow Girls under 18 from May 19 to May 23, 2008.

• Runners-up singles & Doubles in AITA Series at CLTA Chandigarh Girls under16 from June 16 to June 20, 2007.

     - Semifinalist in Doubles in AITA Series at CLTA Chandigarh Girls under 18 from August 11 to August 2008.

     - Runner-up in Wilson Inter School championship tournament at New Delhi from August 18 to August 20, 2008.

     - Runner-up in AITA Talent Series at Noida Girls under 16 from October 13 to October 17, 2008.

It is requested that Abhilasha be provided financial assistance and support to pursue her career in tennis to enable her to achieve higher goals for her school and country.


Queens Baton Relay (En route to 2006 Melbourne Common Wealth Games), started from Red Fort to the National Stadium, New Delhi on 14th Sep 2005. 375 Students of L.I.S. participated near Janpath traffic roundabout.

Deepti Panwar of Class VIII secured II place in High Board Diving Girls Group in 22nd sub junior National Aquatic Championship 2005 held at Trivandrum from 16th June to 19th June 2005.

Deepti Panwar of Class VIII was placed 1st position in High Board Diving event.

Tanushree Bhatt of Class VII got 1st position in 200 Medley Relay. She was also placed in 3rd position in both 100 m Breast Stroke and 200 m Individual Medley.

Zonal Gymnastics Championship 2005-2006 At Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium On 5th Aug 2005, Gunjan Chamoli secured 1st place in Floor Exercises. She also secured 3rd place in under 10 yrs Girls Vaulting Horse. She was placed the all round best with 7.60 Points.

Anupama Rawat of Class VIII Won 2nd prize in 50 m Butterfly Stroke at the Shakarpur Swimming Association on 10th Aug 2005.

Zonal Swimming Competition - Talkatora Stadium (Delhi State), Deepti Panwar of Class VIII and Tanushree Bhatt of Class VI took part. Deepti Panwar won 1st prize in Diving and Tanushree Bhatt won 100 m Breast Stroke (3rd prize), Free Style Relay (2nd prize), 200 m Individual Medley (3rd prize), Medley Relay (1st prize).

35 students participated in Marching Competition and won first prize and were selected for Inter-Zonal Marching Competition to be held on 8th Nov ‘05.
